The hardened switches of EtherWAN EX77000 family are the solution to harsh environments and conditions. They come with 24 10/100Base-TX or 100Base-FX ports, plus four dual-personality Gigabit ports. They have been designed to integrate 10/100Mbps networks into fiber optic Gigabit backbones.

Each one of the four Gigabit ports has got an RJ45 connector for copper 10/100/1000Base-TX connections and a combo SFP (Mini GBIC) slot for 1000Base-SX/LX/BX fiber-optic connections. Plugging a GBIC transceiver into an SFP slot disables the corresponding integrated 10/100/1000BASE-TX port.

All Switch EX77000 models function at temperatures ranging from -40°C to 75°C (-40° F to 167°F) and are tested for functional operation from -40°C to 85°C (-40°F to 185° F) before delivery.

The EX77000 switches are not only very strong, they also offer all most advanced features such as IGMP Snooping for video and audio transfers, Spanning Tree for Redundancy, QoS for priority queuing, VLANs, and Port Mirroring. They also support rate control, which makes it possible to set the maximum allowed bandwidth to each port individually. The Gigabit ports can be combined (trunking) to make larger bandwidths for connections to backbones and servers.

Users may choose among SNMP/RMON, Web browser, or Telnet for remote monitoring and configuration. They can also manage the switches locally via the RS232 local console port.

By default, fiber ports are multimode 2km with SC connectors, but on request these switches can be delivered with ST connectors and/or single mode 20km transceivers.

 

Hardened mini GBIC Modules for EX77000 switches

mini GBICEtherWAN mini GBICs are high performance transceivers for fiber optic communication operating at 1.25Gb/s. These modules comply with Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) Small Form Factor Pluggable (SFP). They are housed in a metal package and the combination produces a reliable component, compliant with IEEE802.3z.

The hardened mini GBIC modules for EX77000 are available in Multimode short distance and Single Mode long distance interface types. They provide a duplex LC connector. They can operate in the temperature range of -40 °C ~ 85 °C (-40°F ~ 185°F).

Without any module plugged, all EX77000 provide four 10/100/100Base-TX ports. Plugging a fiber optic mini GBIC module automatically disables the corresponding RJ45 port.
